As I was walking all alaneA
I heard twa corbies making a maneA
The tane unto the tither did sayB
'Whar sall we gang and dine the day 'C

' In behint yon auld fail dykeD
I wot there lies a new slain knightE
And naebody kens that he lies thereF
But his hawk his hound and his lady fairF

'His hound is to the hunting ganeA
His hawk to fetch the wild fowl hameG
His lady 's ta'en anither mateH
So we may mak our dinner sweetI
-
'Ye'll sit on his white hause baneA
And I'll pike out his bonny blue e'enA
Wi' ae lock o' his gowden hairF
We'll theek our nest when it grows bareF
-
'Mony a one for him maks maneA
But nane sall ken whar he is ganeA
O'er his white banes when they are bareF
The wind sall blaw for evermair '-
