Jerusalem my happy homeA
When shall I come to theeB
When shall my sorrows have an endC
Thy joys when shall I seeB
-
O happy harbour of the SaintsD
O sweet and pleasant soilE
In thee no sorrow may be foundF
No grief no care no toilE
-
There lust and lucre cannot dwellG
There envy bears no swayH
There is no hunger heat nor coldI
But pleasure every wayH
-
Thy walls are made of precious stonesJ
Thy bulwarks diamonds squareK
Thy gates are of right orient pearlL
Exceeding rich and rareK
-
Thy turrets and thy pinnaclesJ
With carbuncles do shineM
Thy very streets are paved with goldI
Surpassing clear and fineM
-
Ah my sweet home JerusalemN
Would God I were in theeB
Would God my woes were at an endC
Thy joys that I might seeB
-
Thy gardens and thy gallant walksJ
Continually are greenO
There grows such sweet and pleasant flowersJ
As nowhere else are seenO
-
Quite through the streets with silver soundF
The flood of Life doth flowP
Upon whose banks on every sideQ
The wood of Life doth growP
-
There trees for evermore bear fruitR
And evermore do springS
There evermore the angels sitT
And evermore do singS
-
Our Lady sings MagnificatT
With tones surpassing sweetT
And all the virgins bear their partT
Sitting about her feetT
-
Jerusalem my happy homeA
Would God I were in theeB
Would God my woes were at an endT
Thy joys that I might seeB
