My Love Is Like The Sun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DEBFFB GGEGGG HIGJJG KKGLLG MMGNOG PQGRRG

The winter is pastA
And the summer's come at lastA
And the blackbirds sing in every treeB
The hearts of these are gladC
But my poor heart is sadC
Since my true love is absent from meB
-
The rose upon the briarD
By the water running clearE
Gives joy to the linnet and the beeB
Their little hearts are blestF
But mine is not at restF
While my true love is absent from meB
-
A livery I'll wearG
And I'll comb out my hairG
And in velvet so green I'll appearE
And straight I will repairG
To the Curragh of KildareG
For it's there I'll find tidings of my dearG
-
I'll wear a cap of blackH
With a frill around my neckI
Gold rings on my fingers I'll wearG
All this I'll undertakeJ
For my true lover's sakeJ
He resides at the Curragh of KildareG
-
I would not think it strangeK
Thus the world for to rangeK
If I only get tidings of my dearG
But here in Cupid's chainL
If I'm bound to remainL
I would spend my whole life in despairG
-
My love is like the sunM
That in the firmament does runM
And always proves constant and trueG
But he is like the moonN
That wanders up and downO
And every month is newG
-
All ye that are in loveP
And cannot it removeQ
I pity the pains you endureG
For experience lets me knowR
That your hearts are full of woeR
And a woe that no mortal can cureG
