Over the mountainsA
And over the wavesB
Under the fountainsA
And under the gravesB
Under floods that are deepestC
Which Neptune obeyD
Over rocks that are steepestC
Love will find out the wayD
-
When there is no placeE
For the glow worm to lieF
When there is no spaceE
For receipt of a flyF
When the midge dares not ventureG
Lest herself fast she layD
If Love come he will enterG
And will find out the wayD
-
You may esteem himH
A child for his mightI
Or you may deem himH
A coward for his flightI
But if she whom Love doth honourG
Be conceal'd from the dayD
Set a thousand guards upon herG
Love will find out the wayD
-
Some think to lose himH
By having him confinedJ
And some do suppose himH
Poor heart to be blindJ
But if ne'er so close ye wall himH
Do the best that ye mayD
Blind Love if so ye call himH
He will find out his wayD
-
You may train the eagleK
To stoop to your fistL
Or you may inveigleK
The Phoenix of the eastM
The lioness you may move herG
To give over her preyD
But you'll ne'er stop a loverG
He will find out the wayD
-
If the earth it should part himH
He would gallop it o'erG
If the seas should o'erthwart himH
He would swim to the shoreG
Should his Love become a swallowK
Through the air to strayD
Love will lend wings to followK
And will find out the wayD
-
There is no strivingN
To cross his intentO
There is no contrivingN
His plots to preventO
But if once the message greet himH
That his True Love doth stayD
If Death should come and meet himH
Love will find out the wayD
