The Spring Equinox Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEFGGHIIJKJL AJAJMNMANN

Now is the pause between asleep and awakeA
Two seasons takeA
A colour and quality each from each as yetB
The new stage setB
Spandril column and fan of spring is raised against theC
winter backdropD
Murrey and softE
Now aloftF
The sun swings on the equinoctial lineG
Few flowers yet shineG
The hellebore hangs a clear green bell and opulent leavesH
above dark mouldI
The light is coldI
In arum leaves and a primrose flickersJ
Here and there the first cool bird song flickers in the thicketK
Clouds arc pale as the pollen from sallowsJ
March fallows are white with lime like frostL
-
This is the pause between asleep and awakeA
The pause of contemplation and of peiceJ
Before the earth must teem and the heart acheA
This is the child's pause before it seesJ
That the choice of one way has denied the otherM
Must choose the either or both of to care and not to careN
Before the light or darkness shall discoverM
Irreparable loss before it must takeA
Blame for the creature caught in the necessary snareN
Receiving a profit before it holds a snareN
