The Cranes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKLMIN

We thought they were gulls at firstA
while they were distantB
The two cranes flying out of a natural morningC
They circled twice about our house and sankD
Their long legs drooping down over the woodE
We saw their wings flash whiteF
Frayed at the black tipG
And heard their harsh cry like a rusty screwH
-
Down in the next field shy and angularI
They darted their long necks in the grass for fishJ
They would not have us close but shambled coylyK
Ridiculous caught on the ground Yet our fieldsL
Under their feet became a fen the skyM
That was blue July became watery NovemberI
And echoing with the cries of foreign birdsN
