The girl in brown borned and grown,
Like other colleagues, followed a set pattern;
Unlike other friends, showed a passion to improvising;
Haylofts to the floor of grandpa's barn,
Than playing with dolls.
Getting her destiny, seeing a plane was novel and spellbound.
Hoped for a 'joy ride',
Above the dizzing heights;
Didn't get into hysterics.
She acquired FAI licence,
First soared the 14000 feets;
First flyer with air-cooled engine.
Mysterious, made all her dreams come true.
Joined, a crew of three in a trans-Atlantic flight.
Heart beat faster; heard saying herself
"Yes, I'd be willing".
"Friendship" suffered a formidable and hard to control.
To escape the challenging wave, 'Friendship' drunk a wine of 18 hours.
Millions closed their radios.
Everyone anxious the very day.
Plane wined fuel and strained in overload.
The radio drew blank.

Midst icy Cascades and a little minutes of fuel in the tank.
She blessed, 'it might as well have been my last flight'.
Her jottings were those of a dreamer and a pilot.
Poetry mingled with gay drawings and scruting revealed clouds as "fantastic gobs of mashed potatoes".

'Freindship' landed at Burry Port.
Her luggage were a comb and a toothbrush.

Become a celebrity the world over,
Became the super saleswoman for an expanding industry.
Her feminity admired man;
Women were charmed by her modesty and her sincere championing.

At last flight, giving vent her poetic soul,
And said, ''The moon set and I was alone with stars.
I have often said that the lure of flying is the lure of beauty, and I need no other flight to convince me..." .

Ten thousands waited but her plane never landed.
Destiny, in an ironic way, fulfilled her prognosis.
"Amelia Earhart" walked alone,
The girl in brown borned was walking alone.
