In Spite Of War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDDDDEE FFGGGHHIIJJI DJJD

In spite of war in spite of deathA
In spite of all man's sufferingsB
Something within me laughs and singsB
And I must praise with all my breathA
In spite of war in spite of hateC
Lilacs are blooming at my gateC
Tulips are tripping down the pathD
In spite of war in spite of wrathD
Courage the morning glory saithD
Rejoice the daisy murmurethD
And just to live is so divineE
When pansies lift their eyes to mineE
-
The clouds are romping with the seaF
And flashing waves call back to meF
That naught is real but what is fairG
That everywhere and everywhereG
A glory liveth through despairG
Though guns may roar and cannon boomH
Roses are born and gardens bloomH
My spirit still may light its flameI
At that same torch whence poppies cameI
Where morning's altar whitely burnsJ
Lilies may lift their silver urnsJ
In spite of war in spite of shameI
-
And in my ear a whispering breathD
Wake from the nightmare Look and seeJ
That life is naught but ecstasyJ
In spite of war in spite of deathD
