As I was walking all alaneB
I heard twa corbies making a maneB
The tane unto the t'other sayC
Where sall we gang and dine the dayC

In behint yon auld fail dykeD
I wot there lies a new slain knightE
And naebody kens that he lies thereF
But his hawk his hound and his lady fairF

His hound is to the hunting ganeB
His hawk to fetch the wild fowl hameG
His lady's ta'en another mateH
So we may make our dinner sweetI
-
Ye'll sit on his white hause baneB
And I'll pike out his bonny blue eenB
Wi ae lock o his gowden hairF
We'll theek our nest when it grows bareF
-
Mony a one for him makes maneB
But nane sall ken whae he is ganeB
Oer his white banes when they are bareF
The wind sall blaw for evermairF
