The Taming Of Tyro'(soph., Fr., 587.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEEDEDDE FGHFGI

Sidero the stepmother of Tyro daughter of Salmoneus cruellyA
entreated her in all things and chiefly in this that she letB
sheer her beautiful hairC
-
-
At fierce Sidero's word the thralls drew nearD
And shore the locks of Tyro like ripe cornE
They fell in golden harvest but forlornE
The maiden shuddered in her pain and fearD
Like some wild mare that cruel grooms in scornE
Hunt in the meadows and her mane they sheerD
And drive her where within the waters clearD
She spies her shadow and her shame doth mournE
-
Ah hard were he and pitiless of heartF
Who marking that wild thing made weak and tameG
Broken and grieving for her glory goneH
Could mock her grief but scornfully apartF
Sidero stood and watched a wind that cameG
And tossed the curls like fire that flew and shoneI
