The Brigand's Grave'modern Greek Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFG DBHB IBJB BKLK IMN

The moon came up above the hillA
The sun went down the seaB
'Go maids and draw the well waterC
But lad come here to meB
-
Gird on my jack and my old swordD
For I have never a sonE
And you must be the chief of allF
When I am dead and goneG
-
But you must take my old broadswordD
And cut the green boughs of the treeB
And strew the green boughs on the groundH
To make a soft death bed for meB
-
And you must bring the holy priestI
That I may sained beB
For I have lived a roving lifeJ
Fifty years under the greenwood treeB
-
And you shall make a grave for meB
And dig it deep and wideK
That I may turn about and dreamL
With my old gun by my sideK
-
And leave a window to the eastI
And the swallows will bring the springM
And all the merry month of MayN
The nightingales will sing '-
