Poscimur! By A. D. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD DDEEFFGGDDHI

A Birthday Ode for MEG or NANA
A Rhyme for Lady FLORA's FanA
A Verse on Smut who's gone astrayB
These Things are in the Poet's wayB
At Home with praise of JULIA's LaceC
Or DELIA's Ankles ROSE's FaceC
But Something overparted HeD
When asked to rhyme the jubileeD
-
He therefore turns the Poet waryD
And Thumbs his Carmen SeculareD
To PHOEBUS and to DIAN praysE
Who tune Men's Lyres of HolidaysE
He reads of the Sibylline ShadesF
Of Stainless Boys and chosen MaidsF
He turns and reads the other PageG
Of docile Youth and placid AgeG
Then Sings how in this golden YearD
Fides Pudorque reappearD
And if they don't appear you know itH
Were quite unjust to blame the PoetI
