Lines Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF BGB BGBGHIJIJK

Written under the influence of Wordsworth with a slateA
pencil on a window of the dining room at the Lowood HotelB
Windermere while waiting for tea after being present atC
the Grasmere Sports on a very wet day and in consequence ofD
a recent perusal of Belinda a Novel by Miss BroughtonE
whose absence is regrettedF
-
-
How solemn is the front of this HotelB
When now the hills are swathed in modest mistG
And none can speak of scenery nor tellB
Of 'tints of amber ' or of 'amethyst '-
Here once thy daughters young Romance did dwellB
Here Sara flirted with whoever listG
Belinda loved not wisely but too wellB
And Mr Ford played the PhilologistG
Haunted the house is and the balconyH
Where that fond Matron knew her Lover nearI
And here we sit and wait for tea and sighJ
While the sad rain sobs in the sullen mereI
And all our hearts go forth into the cryJ
Would that the teller of the tale were hereK
