The heather's in a blaze WillieA
The White Rose decks the treeA
The Fiery Cross is on the braesB
And the King is on the seaB
-
Remember great Montrose WillieB
Remember fair DundeeB
And strike one stroke at the foreign foesB
Of the King that's on the seaB
-
There's Gordons in the North WillieB
Are rising frank and freeB
Shall a Kenmure Gordon not go forthC
For the King that's on the seaB
-
A trusty sword to draw WillieB
A comely weird to dreeB
For the Royal Rose that's like the snawD
And the King that's on the seaB
-
He cast ae look across his landsB
Looked over loch and leaB
He took his fortune in his handsB
For the King was on the seaB
-
Kenmures have fought in GallowayE
For Kirk and Presbyt'rieB
This Kenmure faced his dying dayE
For King James across the seaB
-
It little skills what faith men vauntE
If loyal men they beB
To Christ's ain Kirk and CovenantE
Or the King that's o'er the seaB
