Helen On The Walls'(iliad, Iii. 146.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Fair Helen to the Scaean portals cameA
Where sat the elders peers of PriamusB
Thymoetas Hiketaon PanthousB
And many another of a noble nameA
Famed warriors now in council more of fameA
Always above the gates in converse thusB
They chattered like cicalas garrulousB
Who marking Helen swore it is no shameA
That armed Achaean knights and Ilian menC
For such a woman's sake should suffer longD
Fair as a deathless goddess seemeth sheE
Nay but aboard the red prowed ships againC
Home let her pass in peace not working wrongD
To us and children's children yet to beE
