Criticism Of Life'(hippol, Eurip .p., 252-266.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBAAB CDEFED

Long life hath taught me many things and shownA
That lukewarm loves for men who die are bestB
Weak wine of liking let them mix aloneA
Not Love that stings the soul within the breastB
Happy who wears his love bonds lightliestB
Now cherished now away at random thrownA
Grievous it is for other's grief to moanA
Hard that my soul for thine should lose her restB
-
Wise ruling this of life but yet againC
Perchance too rigid diet is not wellD
He lives not best who dreads the coming painE
And shunneth each delight desirableF
FLEE THOU EXTREMES this word alone is plainE
Of all that God hath given to Man to spellD
