Before The Snow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDCDCD| The winter is upon us not the snow | A |
| The hills are etched on the horizon bare | B |
| The skies are iron grey a bitter air | B |
| The meagre cloudlets shudder to and fro | A |
| One yellow leaf the listless wind doth blow | A |
| Like some strange butterfly unclassed and rare | B |
| Your footsteps ring in frozen alleys where | B |
| The black trees seem to shiver as you go | A |
| - | |
| Beyond lie church and steeple with their old | C |
| And rusty vanes that rattle as they veer | D |
| A sharper gust would shake them from their hold | C |
| Yet up that path in summer of the year | D |
| And past that melancholy pile we strolled | C |
| To pluck wild strawberries with merry cheer | D |
