Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBBBB ABABBBBB ABABBB B D DDDD

This life's most jolly Amiens saidA
Heigh ho the Holly So sang heB
As the good Duke was comfortedC
In forest exile so may weB
The years may darken as they fleeB
And Christmas bring his melancholyB
But round the old mahogany treeB
We drink we sing Heigh ho the HollyB
-
Though some are dead and some are fledA
To lands of summer over seaB
The holly berry keeps his redA
The merry children keep their gleeB
They hoard with artless secresyB
This gift for Maude and that for MollyB
And Santa Claus he turns the keyB
On Christmas Eve Heigh ho the HollyB
-
Amid the snow the birds are fedA
The snow lies deep on lawn and leaB
The skies are shining overheadA
The robin's tame that was so freeB
Far North at home the 'barley bree'B
They brew they give the hour to follyB
How 'Rab and Allan cam to pree '-
They sing we sing Heigh ho the HollyB
-
ENVOID
-
Friend let us pay the wonted feeD
The yearly tithe of mirth be jollyD
It is a duty so to beD
Though half we sigh Heigh ho the HollyD
