Ballade Of His Books Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCCC CCCCCCCC CCCCCCCC D CCC

Here stand my books line upon lineA
They reach the roof and row by rowB
They speak of faded tastes of mineA
And things I did but do not knowB
Old school books useless long agoB
Old Logics where the spirit railed inC
Could scarcely answer 'yes' or 'no'C
The many things I've tried and failed inC
-
Here's Villon in morocco fineC
The Poet starved in mud and snowC
Glatigny does not crave to dineC
And Rene's tears forget to flowC
And here's a work by Mrs CroweC
With hosts of ghosts and bogies jailed inC
Ah all my ghosts have gone belowC
The many things I've tried and failed inC
-
He's touched this mouldy Greek divineC
The Princess D'Este's hand of snowC
And here the arms of D'Hoym shineC
And there's a tear bestained RousseauC
Here's Carlyle shrieking 'woe on woe'C
The first edition this he wailed inC
I once believed in him but ohC
The many things I've tried and failed inC
-
ENVOYD
-
Prince tastes may differ mine and thineC
Quite other balances are scaled inC
May you succeed though I repineC
'The many things I've tried and failed in '-
