Ballade Of Amoureuse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACBDBD ABABBEBD ABABBDBD

Not Jason nor Medea wiseA
I crave to see nor win much loreB
Nor list to Orpheus' minstrelsiesA
Nor Her'cles would I see that o'erC
The wide world roamed from shore to shoreB
Nor by St James PenelopeD
Nor pure Lucrece such wrong that boreB
To see my Love suffices meD
-
Virgil and Cato no man viesA
With them in wealth of clerkly storeB
I would not see them with mine eyesA
Nor him that sailed sans sail nor oarB
Across the barren sea and hoarB
And all for love of his ladyeE
Nor pearl nor sapphire takes me moreB
To see my Love suffices meD
-
I heed not Pegasus that fliesA
As swift as shafts the bowmen pourB
Nor famed Pygmalion's artificeA
Whereof the like was ne'er beforeB
Nor Oleus that drank of yoreB
The salt wave of the whole great seaD
Why dost thou ask 'Tis as I sworeB
To see my Love suffices meD
