Amaryllis'(theocritus, Idyll, Iii.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABABABCDCDCD

Fair Amaryllis wilt thou never peepA
From forth the cave and call me and be mineB
Lo apples ten I bear thee from the steepA
These didst thou long for and all these are thineB
Ah would I were a honey bee to sweepA
Through ivy and the bracken and woodbineB
To watch thee waken Love and watch thee sleepA
Within thy grot below the shadowy pineB
Now know I Love a cruel god is heC
The wild beast bare him in the wild wood drearD
And truly to the bone he burneth meC
But black browed Amaryllis ne'er a tearD
Nor sigh nor blush nor aught have I from theeC
Nay nor a kiss a little gift and dearD
