The Stars Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI

ONLY the stars remain to travelers' eyesA
Unalterable the waters change their hueB
Beneath the flattery of alien skiesA
From jade to silver and from bronze to blueB
-
Sunrise and sunset spread their lovely lightC
As slow as solemn music in the NorthD
But southward like a dart descends the nightC
And like a meteor the day breaks forthD
-
And faiths and manners vary friends they sayE
And even lovers of a constant mindF
Not the light loves we meet upon our wayE
But those enchained by vows we left behindF
-
Only unchanged the patterned stars endureG
As when they first assured or threatened manH
Still Vega glitters crystalline and pureG
Still like an angry eye AldebaranI
