Young pretty and a little bit flirtatious | C |
Who would do even more harm if they knew | B |
The science of the Art of being Gracious | C |
Science in any game we know will tell | D |
And those who play this ought to play it well | D |

First do not doubt that rivals please a man | E |
Not too successful ones 'tis understood | F |
They flatter him as nothing you do can | E |
And give him certainty his taste is good | F |
And though at times a little in his way | G |
They make him find the house he haunts more gay | G |

Do not abuse the girls he likes 'tis far | H |
From wise for he will only think you spiteful | I |
Praise them and show how ludicrous they are | H |
And ten to one he'll find the joke delightful | I |
From which I draw this never failing rule | J |
Love lives through slander but not ridicule | J |

As is the way of self distrusting youth | L |
A little doubt civility allows | K |
But not too long should you impugn their truth | L |
In short if you would give true satisfaction | M |
Express belief in words and doubt in action | M |
