The Penintent Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB CDCDED FGFGFG HIHIH

'NEVER ' he said 'nevermoreA
In the murmuring stillness of nightB
Shall I wait for her hand on my doorA
Confident lightB
Still is the night as beforeA
And the stars unforgettably brightB
-
'Once from the deep woodland calmsC
At midnight a wild wind brokeD
Shaking the cedars and palmsC
And the silver gray oakD
And she who had slept in my armsE
Suddenly wokeD
-
'Pity me then for it blewF
Last night again from the woodlands so deepG
Where mosses and moisture and dewF
Verdure eternal keepG
From the brooks and the glades that we knewF
It woke me from sleepG
-
'How can she know and refrainH
How being mine can she leave me like thisI
Go when this only is plainH
Life is no more than our kissI
Life is so lavish of painH
So niggard of bliss '-
