Playthings Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHGJKJ

Last year the shops were crowdedA
With soldier suits and gunsB
The presents that at Christmas timeC
We give our little sonsB
And many a glittering trumpetD
And many a sword and drumE
But as they're made in GermanyF
This year they will not comeE
-
Perhaps another seasonG
We shall not give our boysH
Such very warlike playthingsI
Such military toysH
Perhaps another seasonG
We shall not think it sweetJ
To watch their game of soldier menK
Who dream not of defeatJ
