Late Comers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EDED

Oft on my way my daily task pursuingA
Meet I two fairy figures face to faceB
Beauty and Peace who smile on me embuingA
All else I see with something of their graceB
-
Not in my youth did I their shapes discoverC
Not in those hours of transport and despairsD
Rather they come now that high noon is overC
And like sweet ghosts they make the twilight theirsD
-
Constant and shy they seek those spirits onlyE
Who have made silence for their soft behestsD
Whose garnished thresholds welcoming and lonelyE
Faithful await the long desired guestsD
