| A chivalrous male would come forward undaunted | C |
| And say If you must have one make it of me | B |
| Bad though they be yet I'll agree | B |
| If you must make them why make them of me | B |

| But chivalry's dead as I always expected | A |
| Since women would not let things stay as they were | D |
| So now I suppose when a statue's erected | A |
| Men will say brutally Make it of her | D |
| She may prefer things as they were | D |
| When they start making the statues of her | D |
