A Consistent Anti to Her SonA
-
Look at the hazards the risks the physical dangers that ladies wouldB
be exposed to at the polls Anti suffrage speechC
-
-
You're twenty one to day WillieD
And a danger lurks at the doorE
I've known about it alwaysF
But I never spoke beforeE
When you were only a babyD
It seemed so very remoteG
But you're twenty one to day WillieD
And old enough to voteG
-
You must not go to the polls WillieD
Never go to the pollsH
They're dark and dreadful placesI
Where many lose their soulsH
They smirch degrade and coarsenA
Terrible things they doJ
To quiet elderly womenA
What would they do to youJ
-
If you've a boyish fancyD
For any measure or manA
Tell me and I'll tell FatherK
He'll vote for it if he canA
He casts my vote and Louisa'sD
And Sarah and dear Aunt CloD
Wouldn't you let him vote for youJ
Father who loves you soD
-
I've guarded you always WillieD
Body and soul from harmL
I'll guard your faith and honorK
Your innocence and charmL
From the polls and their evil spiritsD
Politics rum and pelfM
Do you think I'd send my only sonA
Where I would not go myselfM
