After A Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG CHCH IJIJ

YES you have guessed it Do not blame me dearA
Indeed I did not dream tender eyesB
When first we met that in a little yearA
My words would dim you with pain's dumb surpriseB
-
Do not reproach me for I suffer tooC
An agony of shame and self contemptD
And know that I shall miss far more than youC
The lost illusions of this dream we've dreamtE
-
Why did you ever learn to love me childF
If you had let me only be your friendG
Instead of weeping had you only smiledF
Coldly I might have worshipped to the endG
-
Worthless and aimless what I was you knewC
By all the wretched past to you confessedH
The one good in me was my love of youC
And that has proved as fickle as the restH
-
Ah dear the worst wrong in this world of shameI
The hardest question to explain is whyJ
Women like you who barely know sin's nameI
Can be so wounded by such men as IJ
