The Old Lowe House, Staten Island Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCEFD

Another prospect pleased the builder's eyeA
And Fashion tenanted where Fashion wanesB
Here in the sorrowful suburban lanesB
When first these gables rose against the skyA
Relic of a romantic taste gone byA
This stately monument alone remainsB
Vacant with lichened walls and window panesB
Blank as the windows of a skull But IA
On evenings when autumnal winds have stirredC
In the porch vines to this gray oracleD
Have laid a wondering ear and oft times heardC
As from the hollow of a stranded shellE
Old voices echoing or my fancy erredF
Things indistinct but not insensibleD
