Sonnet Iv - To . . . In Church Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAACDCDEEFGGF H

If I was drawn here from a distant placeA
'Twas not to pray nor hear our friend's addressB
But gazing once more on your winsome faceA
To worship there Ideal LovelinessA
On that pure shrine that has too long ignoredC
The gifts that once I brought so frequentlyD
I lay this votive offering to recordC
How sweet your quiet beauty seemed to meD
Enchanting girl my faith is not a thingE
By futile prayers and vapid psalm singingE
To vent in crowded nave and public pewF
My creed is simple that the world is fairG
And beauty the best thing to worship thereG
And I confess it by adoring youF
