Rhyme Scheme: AAAAABABCACADD| There have been times when I could storm and plead | A |
| But you shall never hear me supplicate | A |
| These long months that have magnified my need | A |
| Have made my asking less importunate | A |
| For now small favors seem to me so great | A |
| That not the courteous lovers of old time | B |
| Were more content to rule themselves and wait | A |
| Easing desire with discourse and sweet rhyme | B |
| Nay be capricious willful have no fear | C |
| To wound me with unkindness done or said | A |
| Lest mutual devotion make too dear | C |
| My life that hangs by a so slender thread | A |
| And happy love unnerve me before May | D |
| For that stern part that I have yet to play | D |
