Sonnet 02 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAACDCEFFGHHG| Not that I always struck the proper mean | A |
| Of what mankind must give for what they gain | B |
| But when I think of those whom dull routine | A |
| And the pursuit of cheerless toil enchain | A |
| Who from their desk chairs seeing a summer cloud | C |
| Race through blue heaven on its joyful course | D |
| Sigh sometimes for a life less cramped and bowed | C |
| I think I might have done a great deal worse | E |
| For I have ever gone untied and free | F |
| The stars and my high thoughts for company | F |
| Wet with the salt spray and the mountain showers | G |
| I have had the sense of space and amplitude | H |
| And love in many places silver shoed | H |
| Has come and scattered all my path with flowers | G |
