Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFGHGII| Sidney in whom the heyday of romance | A |
| Came to its precious and most perfect flower | B |
| Whether you tourneyed with victorious lance | A |
| Or brought sweet roundelays to Stella's bower | B |
| I give myself some credit for the way | C |
| I have kept clean of what enslaves and lowers | D |
| Shunned the ideals of our present day | C |
| And studied those that were esteemed in yours | E |
| For turning from the mob that buys Success | F |
| By sacrificing all Life's better part | G |
| Down the free roads of human happiness | H |
| I frolicked poor of purse but light of heart | G |
| And lived in strict devotion all along | I |
| To my three idols Love and Arms and Song | I |
