On The Cliffs, Newport Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDDCEFGEFG

Tonight a shimmer of gold lies mantled o'erA
Smooth lovely Ocean Through the lustrous gloomB
A savor steals from linden trees in bloomB
And gardens ranged at many a palace doorC
Proud walls rise here and where the moonbeams pourC
Their pale enchantment down the dim coast lineD
Terrace and lawn trim hedge and flowering vineD
Crown with fair culture all the sounding shoreC
How sweet to such a place on such a nightE
From halls with beauty and festival a glareF
To come distract and stretched on the cool turfG
Yield to some fond improbable delightE
While the moon reddening sinks and all the airF
Sighs with the muffled tumult of the surfG
