Plaisir D' Amour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ KKLL AB

Plaisir d'amour ne dure qu'un momentA
chagrin d'amour dure toute la vieB
-
'tis here that I met you on a pleasing summer mornC
Where blossoms of the cherry out on the bough adornC
Underneath the cherry tree euphoria welled soonD
I met you in the morning and I loved you by the noonD
-
You were more the things to me that I should ever knowE
And there beneath the cherry tree below the scented showE
We watched the sun rise in the sky and felt our hearts entwineF
And all the world was lost to me just as your eyes kissed mineF
-
We loved throughout that summer time in the cherry gladeG
The warmest days that I had known that God has ever madeG
And from an overflowing cup of mirth where I may drinkH
'neath the blooming cherry tree 'neath the perfumed pinkH
-
But as the autumn chill appeared and cooled the air aroundI
The leaves upon the cherry tree were tumbled to the groundI
Then so the dusk of time came by the evening of the dayJ
And in the darkness of the night my love had gone awayJ
-
Yet still the joy of love is mine though but a moment longK
The memory of those blissful days shall always here belongK
And I shall sacrifice the peace I ever knew beforeL
The pain of love remains with me for now and evermoreL
-
Plaisir d'amour ne dure qu'un momentA
chagrin d'amour dure toute la vieB
