I come from the Western partA
Of West AfricaB
A lover of the EastC
Forbidden to mingleD
With the daughtersE
Of the kings of the EastC
Should I cross the boundariesF
That's where things go SouthG
I grew up in the NorthH
Where we're used toI
Being Hot HurtJ
Yet never HaultJ
-
I think my nation is awesomeK
Quote that AwesomeK
At getting me lost in thoughtsL
The economy and modus operandiJ
Makes me go ballisticM
But don't get me wrongN
Home is where the heart livesO
-
They sayP
The world is a bookQ
Those who do not travelD
Only read one pageR
-
To everyone who has intentionsS
Or exploitations of living in diasporaB
Uhh I salute youI
For reasons of BusinessT
Pleasure Exposure EtceteraB
I pray for youI
And I wish God's graceU
Though I cannot advice youI
To be afraidJ
But I'd like to alert youI
To be watchful and prayP
For different shades of darknessT
Has always objectified man as preyP
-
To a Wise and GoodmanV
The whole earth is his FatherlandJ
So does serving or lovingW
My motherland require meJ
To detest or hate my fatherX
For service or landJ
-
Two captains can't run a shipY
TrueI
Well let's not forget thatJ
Water differs from landJ
NeverthelessZ
If you were thinking clearlyJ
What went wrongN
Was your perspectiveA2
For the wrong reasonsS
Some turned defensiveA2
In the absence of attackB2
Became pessimisticM
Negatively argumentativeA2
Ambassadors of conflictsC2
Deforming conformityJ
Mis respresenting the definitionV
Of Humanity and frustrating the peaceD2
Of those who cherish UnityJ
Becoming aggressiveA2
Forcing us to play defensiveA2
Even without a strategyJ
The only way this endsE2
Is obviously in tragedyJ
-
Can't you seeJ
The violence is threateningW
The very peace that we needJ
Don't you hearF2
Heartbeats of joyG2
Took a different tempoH2
Now hearts beat heavyJ
Because It's hard to let goH2
How long shall we sufferX
From the pandemoniumK
Of this racial tornadoH2
-
Is there anywhere safeI2
On the planet for an AfricanV
If nations seize to uniteJ
What's United nationsS
If I'm not free to go overseasF
Freedom needs new definitionV
ApparentlyJ
I've got dreams largerX
Than my continent's boundariesF
But I fear that crossing the boundariesF
Could turn my dreams into a nightmaresJ2
Is there anywhere safeI2
For an African immigrantJ
