Each time I took a test, I was learning
A certificate must be a ticket to better earnings
I took studies on self-worth,
Contentment was no sentiment
The tutor taught us to keep our eyes
On our own papers
Sometimes I became a hater
Because the tutor gave simple examples
And complex exercises.

The primary aim is to learn,
We experiment and experience
But the secondary aim is to earn.
At leisure,
It pleasures only a few to swot up.
In case of a pop-up.
Some have the knowledge
But would never pen it down.
Some pen it down
But never have the courage
To speak up.

Tutorials are optional,
Lectures are essential!
Every moment markets an individual
And the chance to new discoveries.

The ones who sleep in class,
And the ones who can’t wait
To get out of class.
The ones who love power play,
The good, the bad, the uglies.
The bullies and the bullied,
The geniuses and the dummies,
The uniquely-gifted and the ordinary,
The focused and the distracted,
The ones who move in crowds
And the ones who dwell in solitude.
The peer pressured
And their peer pressures,
The ones who strive to be like the tutor(s)
And the ones who easily create humour.

Break time’s always our fun time.
Fun time’s the only time
We forget to keep track of time
And the hours go by
While we’re absent-minded.

My momma said,
The best job I could get is with a certificate.
An incentive, I knew this was...
Still I couldn’t wait to graduate
But when I did, I realized that
Life itself is a bigger classroom:
Levels and ranks,
Seniority & pranks…
A few friends from class
Became friends for life,
Some others promised
To stay in touch
But never really tried.

Distance broke some connections
And connection broke some distances.
How ironic the classroom is...
The labor market can change classes of individuals
And individuals can change the better their chances.

That’s why when I take the test of life?
I’m independent,
Eyes on my script,
I hardly compete.
In life; The classroom,
Practical is everything.
From experiences;
It must be critically critiqued.
Pay less attention if it doesn’t let you depict.
Follow your instincts;
There’s always a price for the “outstanding”
But don’t expect a prize when you’re “standing out”
