Pooh pooh poohA
Did you heard thatB
That was the sound of bulletsC
The gunshots of the British soldiersD
On a sun bleached morning of NovemberE
At the eastern heavens of my countryF
A day the embittered toothless sheepG
Grew teeth and bitted the colonial mastersD
The race then was taken by the cripplesH
And the swift ones turned flying and flyingI
For nine or ten hours on a dull cloudy dayJ
They bound their breasts and chased the warrantK
chiefsL
It was a war fought by all Ibibio and Igbo womenM
Was though of stones and palm leavesN
As they marched on with their mocking songO
If we catch them we will sit down on themP
If we catch them we will sit down on themP
But it was a fight for light of salvationM
For the land of the igbos as a societyF
Against the abuse of widows in the villagesQ
The darkness of corruption of whites' indirect ruleR
From the big taxes their past mothers never paidS
It was a stepping on a struggling snake battleT
And on the night that darkened that dormy dayJ
Some pots lost their cooks at the Ewanga OpoboU
And their children rained many tearsV
For their patriotic blood been splatteredW
On the day when you will tell this story againX
Remember to doff your hat for Nwa'anyeruwaY
Remember to hail Nwago Nnete and UdomaP
