Sabbath, My Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

greet my love with wine and gladsome layA
Welcome thrice welcome joyous Seventh DayA
-
Six slaves the weekdays are I shareB
With them a round of toil and careB
Yet light the burdens seem I bearB
For your sweet sake Sabbath my loveC
-
On the First day to the accustomed taskD
I go content nor reward askD
Save in your smile at length to baskD
Day blessed of God Sabbath my loveC
-
Is the Second day dull the Third day unbrightA
Hide sun and stars from the Fourth day's sightA
What need I care who have your lightA
Orb of my life Sabbath my loveC
-
The Fifth day joyful tidings ringE
The morrow shall your freedom bringE
At dawn a slave at eve a kingE
God's table waits Sabbath my loveC
-
On the Sixth day does my cup overflowF
What blissful rest the night shall knowF
When in your arms my toil and woeF
Are all forgotten Sabbath my loveC
-
Now it's dusk With sudden light distilledA
From one sweet face the world is filledA
The tumult of my heart is stilledA
For you have arrived Sabbath my loveC
-
Bring fruits and wine and sing a cheerful layA
Chant Come in peace O blissful Seventh DayA
