The caged birds sing
Their voices louder than church bells that ring
Yet the sing their song
But they don't sing for long
They sing at the crack of dawn
Trying the heal the prisoner's hearts that torn
For all their bravo and might they sing
But not for long
The caged birds sing
For the hope they bring
Before expelled by the dark
Nothing left, not even a spark
Still they sing their song
But the locks are strong
The key's a dream
Like catching a moonbeam
