My father and mother I leaveA
Unto you I cleaveA
Until one twine we weaveA
And one flesh achieveA
-
This vow I make with loveB
Sealed with this book from aboveB
This day have I soldC
My heart to you to holdC
-
Dreams of endless blissD
Nights like one long kissD
Oh my love My love glowsE
Like streams where joy flowsE
-
Frayed with time the edges may beF
A few knots here and thereG
But this cord strong shall beF
The core a mine of diamonds rareG
-
Thorns and thistle now springH
Itching under my golden ringH
Cares and caresses ebbing awayI
Tears and fears a trickle a dayI
-
The place of my vow I standJ
Our hearts a cord of endless strandJ
This garden we ll tenderly tendK
Until we gather every thistle and thornL
-
Oh my love You re mine to holdC
My goods though few are to you swornL
Your smile is my heart s goldC
And when you say I love you I swoonM
