Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Xiv - Waldenses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEFEGThose had given earliest notice as the lark | A |
Springs from the ground the morn to gratulate | B |
Or rather rose the day to antedate | B |
By striking out a solitary spark | A |
When all the world with midnight gloom was dark | A |
Then followed the Waldensian bands whom Hate | B |
In vain endeavours to exterminate | B |
Whom Obloquy pursues with hideous bark | A |
But they desist not and the sacred fire | C |
Rekindled thus from dens and savage woods | D |
Moves handed on with never ceasing care | E |
Through courts through camps o'er limitary floods | F |
Nor lacks this sea girt Isle a timely share | E |
Of the new Flame not suffered to expire | G |
