Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Xiv - Waldenses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEFEG

Those had given earliest notice as the larkA
Springs from the ground the morn to gratulateB
Or rather rose the day to antedateB
By striking out a solitary sparkA
When all the world with midnight gloom was darkA
Then followed the Waldensian bands whom HateB
In vain endeavours to exterminateB
Whom Obloquy pursues with hideous barkA
But they desist not and the sacred fireC
Rekindled thus from dens and savage woodsD
Moves handed on with never ceasing careE
Through courts through camps o'er limitary floodsF
Nor lacks this sea girt Isle a timely shareE
Of the new Flame not suffered to expireG
