Not Unto Endless Dark Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACCDEED

Not unto endless dark do we go downA
Though all the wisdom of wide earth said yeaB
Yet my fond heart would throb eternal nayB
Night prophet of morning wears her starry crownA
And jewels with hope her murkiest shades that frownA
Death's doubt is kernelled in each prayer we prayB
Eternity but night in some vast dayB
Of God's far off red flame of love's renownA
Not unto endless dark We may not knowC
The distant deeps to which our hopings goC
The tidal shores where ebbs our fleeting breathD
But over ill and dread and doubt's fell dartE
Sweet hope eternal holds the human heartE
And love laughs down the desolate dusks of deathD
