The Lute-player Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCDCD EFEG

She was a lady great and splendidA
I was a minstrel in her hallsB
A warrior like a prince attendedA
Stayed his steed by the castle wallsB
-
Far had he fared to gaze upon herC
'O rest thee now Sir Knight ' she saidD
The warrior wooed the warrior won herC
In time of snowdrops they were wedD
I made sweet music in his honourC
And longed to strike him deadD
-
I passed at midnight from her portalE
Throughout the world till death I roveF
Ah let me make this lute immortalE
With rapture of my hate and loveG
