Estrangement Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDESo without overt breach we fall apart | A |
Tacitly sunder neither you nor I | B |
Conscious of one intelligible Why | B |
And both from severance winning equal smart | A |
So with resigned and acquiescent heart | A |
Whene'er your name on some chance lip may lie | B |
I seem to see an alien shade pass by | B |
A spirit wherein I have no lot or part | A |
Thus may a captive in some fortress grim | C |
From casual speech betwixt his warders learn | D |
That June on her triumphant progress goes | E |
Through arched and bannered woodlands while for him | C |
She is a legend emptied of concern | D |
And idle is the rumour of the rose | E |
