England And Her Colonies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBBBBB CDCDBEBBE

SHE stands a thousand wintered treeA
By countless morns impearledB
Her broad roots coil beneath the seaA
Her branches sweep the worldB
Her seeds by careless winds conveyedB
Clothe the remotest strandB
With forests from her scatterings madeB
New nations fostered in her shadeB
And linking land with landB
-
O ye by wandering tempest sownC
Neath every alien starD
Forget not whence the breath was blownC
That wafted you afarD
For ye are still her ancient seedB
On younger soil let fallE
Children of Britain s island breedB
To whom the Mother in her needB
Perchance may one day callE
