Rhyme Scheme: A BBCDEECD FFFGHIFG JJKLMMKL FFNOPPNQ

TH OCTOBERA
-
From his adventurous primeB
He dreamed the dream sublimeB
Over his wandering youthC
It hung a beckoning starD
At last the vision fledE
And left him in its steadE
The scarce sublimer truthC
The world he found afarD
-
The scattered isles that standF
Warding the mightier landF
Yielded their maidenhoodF
To his imperious prowG
The mainland within callH
Lay vast and virginalI
In its blue porch he stoodF
No more did fate allowG
-
No more but ah how muchJ
To be the first to touchJ
The veriest azure hemK
Of that majestic robeL
Lord of the lordly seaM
Earth's mightiest sailor heM
Great Captain among themK
The captors of the globeL
-
When shall the world forgetF
Thy glory and our debtF
Indomitable soulN
Immortal GenoeseO
Not while the shrewd salt galeP
Whines amid shroud and sailP
Above the rhythmic rollN
And thunder of the seasQ
