Bonnie Clara will you go to the bonnie Sidlaw hillsA
And pu' the blooming heather and drink from their rillsA
There the cranberries among the heather growB
Believe me dear Clara as black as the crowB
-
ChorusA
-
Then bonnie Clara will you goB
And wander with me to and froB
And with joy our hearts will o'erflowC
When we go to the bonnie Sidlaws OB
And the rabbits and hares sport in mirthful gleeC
In the beautiful woods of Glen OgilvyC
And innocent trout do sport and playC
In the little rivulet of Glen Ogilvy all the dayC
-
ChorusA
-
And in the bonnie woods of Sidlaw the blackbird doth singD
Making the woodlands with his notes to ringD
Which ought to make a dull heart feel gayC
And help to oheer us on our wayC
-
ChorusA
-
And there the innocent sheep are to be seenE
Browsing on the purple heather and pastures greenE
And the shepherd can be heard shouting to his dogF
As he chases the sheep from out of the bogG
-
ChorusA
-
And from the tops of the Sidlaws can be seenE
The beautiful Howe of Strathmore with its trees and shrubberies greenE
Likewise Lochee and its spinning millsA
Can be seen on a clear day from the Sidlaw hillsA
-
ChorusA
-
Therefore bonnie Clara let's awayC
To Sidlaw hills without delayC
And pu' the cranberries and bonnie blooming heatherH
While we wander to and fro on the Sidlaws togetherH
-
ChorusA
-
There the lovers can enjoy themselves free from careI
By viewing the hilly scenery and inhaling the fresh airI
And return home at night with their hearts full of gleeC
After viewing the beauties of the Sidlaw hills and Glen OgilvyC
