Robert Burns Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEE CCFFGG EEBA CCDC HHEE FFBB

Immortal Robert Burns of AyrA
There's but few poets can with you compareB
Some of your poems and songs are very fineC
To Mary in Heaven is most sublimeD
And then again in your Cottar's Saturday NightE
Your genius there does shine most brightE
As pure as the dewdrops of the nightE
-
Your Tam O'Shanter is very fineC
Both funny racy and divineC
From John O'Groats to DumfriesF
All critics consider it to be a masterpieceF
And also you have said the sameG
Therefore they are not to blameG
-
And in my own opinion both you and they are rightE
For your genius there does sparkle brightE
Which I most solemnly declareB
To thee Immortal Bard of AyrA
-
Your Banks and Braes of Bonnie DoonC
Is sweet and melodious in its tuneC
And the poetry is moral and sublimeD
And in my opinion nothing can be more fineC
-
Your Scots wha hae wi' Wallace bledH
Is most beautiful to hear sung or readH
For your genius there does shine as brightE
Like unto the stars of nightE
-
Immortal Bard of Ayr I must conclude my museF
To speak in praise of thee does not refuseF
For you were a mighty poet few could with you compareB
And also an honour to Scotland for your genius it is rareB
